Kidlington FC was formed in 1909 and have remained an integral part of the village since then. In recent years (2016/17), ‘The Greens’ 1st Team have had success on the field and have been promoted to play in the Southern League. Last season the club further embedded itself into the community by launching a Football Academy, whose students study for a BTEC in Sport Level 3 qualification. We now currently run six teams with ages ranging from 15 to adult from our base in Yarnton Road.
Because of the current situation with the outbreak of COVID 19, we find ourselves in the most precarious of positions we’ve been in as a club since the Second World War. Although we have continued outgoings, we currently have no income at all. We understand that things are difficult for everyone at the moment and we as a Football Club recognise how important family and health needs are at this time. That is why Kidlington FC want to donate to an amazing local charity to support the fantastic work that is taking place. The virus has also hit us particularly hard as a club with our Secretary and Trustee, Dave Platt, still in Intensive Care fighting this dreadful disease.
Last week we completed a ‘Football Card’ and the support for our football club and the NHS was overwhelming and very much appreciated. The reality is that we need to continue to be proactive if we want the football club to survive the current pandemic as well as make sure that everybody stays safe and continues to stay home and support each other and the NHS.
With this in mind we have spoken to managers and players from all our six teams and as a club have planned a challenge that anybody associated with that team or the club can get involved with. Whether you are a player, manager, coach, fan, committee member or even if you have had a previous relationship with the club and want a way to stay busy and active we welcome all to get involved. If you wish to join one of the challenges, please get in touch and we will link you to the lead of the particular challenge you wish to be a part of, firstname.lastname@example.org or any of our club management.
We are also taking this opportunity to continue to support our NHS by splitting all donations 50/50 with our NHS and supporting the amazing work taking place during these difficult times, in which without them this would be so much more challenging for everybody.
We are planning an event at Kidlington Football Club for when we have beaten COVID-19 for the whole community to get involved in. This will be a free event in which we want to give something back for all those who have supported us as well as bring everybody together.
