Kidlington Bowls Club (situated behind Exeter Hall) is pleased to announce that following the Government Roadmap announcement regarding the easing of lockdown restrictions in the Spring, the Committee are hopeful that the Bowls Club will be able to re-open for play at the beginning of the Outdoor season at the end of April 2021 as planned.
The sport’s Governing body, Bowls England, have stated: “Our overriding objective is for as many bowlers as possible to enjoy our sport in a safe manner this summer. Bowls is a sport that is a naturally socially-distanced, non-contact activity and plays a key role in the mental and physical health of many across the country. The positive prospects for the new season provide a great boost to bowlers and the sport in general”.
Bowls is not just a sport for the older generation; it is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages. Of note, Kidlington is the home green for Oxfordshire’s under 25’s male and female teams. Therefore, if you are looking for a new fun, family outdoor activity, why not give Bowls a go.
The Committee will be following developments and instruction from Bowls England and will put in place all suggested measures to ensure that play is as safe as possible.
The Club also has plans to improve disabled access to the green, hopefully before the season starts, thus opening the sport locally to wheelchair players.
Call for new members:
Kidlington welcomes new members to the club at any time (Coaching available, free of charge) however, we will be planning an Open Day in May if restrictions allow. Date to be confirmed nearer the time.
